Remembering Titanic at Cobh, 11th Apr 2012 - 100 years on

We were lucky to be in Cobh [formally Queenstown] for the 100 year celebrations of the Titanic leaving Ireland for the 1st & last time, 100 years ago, to the day. There were many celebrations on the day, including the parading of the Irish navy. We got to see our president Michael D Higgins on board the LE Eithne. This shot of a lady in period dress sheltering from the lightening & hailstones that happened just after the formalities reminds me of the mood on the day, remembering the fate of the thousands that perished on the HMS Titanic.
